I used our Christmas tree as a test ground to learn to use Xlights sequencing software with a falcon F16 V3 controller and FPP (falcon pi player) on a Raspberry Pi to create a little light show. The end game was to get familiar with the software and hardware and then create a bunch of props that could pack fairly small but be set up to fill a stage with lots of lights playing in time to music. It was super fun to play around with the sequencing. I made a couple of different songs, and made a little breakout box which allowed anyone to switch between a standby mode with regular flashing lights and either song. Perhaps I’ll make a separate post about that. I followed the tree up by making a 1000 LED matrix which I used as part of a backdrop in a show, and did some experimenting with making arches for a stage but haven’t finished that yet. I did 3d model some connectors to take them apart, though.
