In 2010 I had the idea of making a suit with pads on it which would trigger sounds when I hit them with juggling balls while juggling. I wanted to be able to make percussion rhythms or perhaps play a song by bouncing balls off of various parts of my body. I did some research, discovered the world of microcontrollers and arduino and haven’t looked back. I made the suit, it worked, and has since gone through two upgrades to improve the technology. Since then I have built countless props that include lights, motors, and sounds and have slowly improved my knowledge and skills. My learning has always been very project-based. I get an idea of something I’d like to make and then learn enough to make it real. I’m so glad to be alive at a time when microcontrollers and electronic components and lipo batteries and all the rest are readily available. Learning how to program a microcontroller allows anyone to create very complicated behaviours easily. Below are a few of the electronics projects which I have built over the years.
